Body Bliss: A Place to Pause, Breathe and Reconnect in Sedona
Step inside Body Bliss at Sedona Center, and something shifts. The energy feels a little calmer. Shelves are lined with beautifully packaged body care and aromatherapy products. Gemstones and jewelry catch the light. Subtle botanical scents fill the air, inviting you to linger, explore and perhaps discover something you didn’t know you were looking for.
That’s exactly the kind of experience owner Jennifer Rivera hopes visitors will have.
“The store is so boutique that you’re going to get a great feeling any time you go in there,” she says. “It’s just a good place to decompress and enjoy yourself.”
Rooted in Sedona
Body Bliss has been part of Uptown Sedona since 2002, when the retail shop was created as an extension of a body care line originally developed by a botanist and massage therapist. Rivera’s connection to the company began years later, when she joined its Cottonwood-based production facility in 2017 and eventually became a co-owner.
When the previous Sedona store owners retired in 2020, Rivera and her business partner took over the shop. Today, Rivera is its sole owner, with her daughter helping manage the store and longtime team members welcoming visitors from around the country…and the world.
For Rivera, Sedona feels particularly suited to the Body Bliss philosophy. “Sedona is just such a beautiful place, and the energy there and why people come and explore,” she says. “If I were to open more stores, I’d be in locations that really had meaning.”.
Aromatherapy with Intention
At the heart of the shop is the Body Bliss collection of aromatherapy and body care products. Each is thoughtfully created with a particular intention in mind.
“It’s not just to smell good,” Rivera explains. “There’s a purpose behind it.”
Visitors can explore lotions, balms, oils and other body care products while talking with staff about ingredients, aromas and ways to incorporate them into everyday rituals. Rivera knows the line intimately, having spent years working with the products and their production.
For something even more personal, stop by the Aroma Design Bar, an interactive experience that allows guests to explore different aromatic pathways and create a customized product, such as a roll-on or lotion, to take home.
Come In and Explore
Body Bliss also embraces another side of Sedona’s personality. Throughout the boutique, visitors will find gemstones (including some harder-to-find varieties) along with jewelry, pieces from local artisans and other thoughtfully selected treasures. Intuitive readings and red light therapy sessions add another dimension to the experience.
Some guests arrive knowing exactly what they want. Others wander in while exploring Uptown and begin asking questions.
“Sometimes they don’t know what they’re looking for until you start talking to them,” Rivera says.
That conversation is part of the experience. The Body Bliss team can help visitors explore products, choose a stone or put together a personalized gift. And if your suitcase is already overflowing from your Sedona adventures, don’t worry. The shop can ship purchases home for you.
Perhaps that’s why so many travelers return each time they visit Sedona. They may initially come for a bottle of lotion, a gemstone or a gift, but Body Bliss offers something less tangible, too: an invitation to slow down. Even if only for a few minutes.
“Just come in and enjoy yourself,” Rivera says. “You can sense the difference.”
